Hospitality Management Study and Internship

Obtain a higher level education, then gain practical experience with a paid internship.

Obtain specialized qualifications at a top Vancouver college and then further your skills with professional work experience. You can study for 1 year or 2 years in Hospitality Management. The program is divided equally into two components: 50% study and 50% co-op work experience.

The program is instructed by industry professionals, and certified by the internationally recognized American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA). In class, you will build a solid foundation in managerial skills and acquire key concepts and techniques related to hotel and restaurant operations, such as sales, marketing, accounting and more.

Given the hands-on nature of the hospitality industry, the program includes a paid internship, which will allow you to gain practical work experience, develop your professional network, and create future career development opportunities.

You can also work part-time during the study part of your program, which will enable you to earn money to support your studies. Having a higher level qualification from a recognized Canadian College along with a related work experience will allow you to gain an insight into North American business cultures and better develop your career.

          Part-time Work

You are allowed to work during the whole duration of the program, using your study permit. This is a great way to earn money to pay off your living expenses (rent, food etc.). You can work up to 20 hours per week during regular in-class study period, and full time during scheduled breaks and holidays (i.e. spring break).

Most students find jobs with flexible schedule such as entry-level job positions in the service and hospitality industry such as; waiter, hostess, busser, dishwasher, barista, cook, room attendant, store clerk, cashier, room attendant, food counter clerk. Minimum wage is  $10.45/hr.
